Green Goddess Ginkgo Vessel
Green Goddess stands regal at 16” and sleek at 8” wide. Her lid is fitted and is easily removed. She is made of a tall body gourd, flipped upside down with her tippy top becoming her fitted lid and her base permanently adhered to her decorative vintage wooden stand.
This sculpture is a perfect compliment to many interior styles and would be a happy and sophisticated addition both in-home and in-office.
Ginkgo Biloba is often called the “bearer of hope” due to its ability to survive in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles. It’s legendary tenacity and vitality make it a potent symbol of hope and renewal.
This piece is first fitted with the lid, then patiently and reverently Pyro-engraved with the lines on every leaf. The branches and open spaces are carefully carved away to create visual interest and depth. The interior and cut out margins are painted with a carbon fiber black that absorbs 95% of the light that might shine on those areas. This carbon fiber paint creates the illusion of spacelessness and timelessness.
Her inky black finish was created by the use of heat set ink dye. Her leaves and branches include a hint of gold and layers of transparent green and golden alcohol inks. She has a delicate gold leafed ring around the top that is gently aged to look like she might have been made in another generation.
While she was created in 2022, her beginnings were decades earlier on a farm in Northern California. In her raw form, I am the 3rd guardian and had the extreme honor of illustrating her into what you see now. She comes with a loving pedigree and her new owner makes the 4th set of hands to house and care for her.
She will last for generations to come with proper care. Your artwork will benefit in its’ own longevity if kept out of direct sunlight, away from moisture and cleaned very gently with a fine, soft, clean and DRY brush..or clean microfiber cloth. This Sleek Green Goddess, while she can hold all of your dreams, hopes, visions and affirmations, does not hold water.
